Adding a patient

Steps

  1. Click + New at the top of the sidebar (or press ⌘N)
  2. Enter the Full name (required)
  3. Optionally fill in date of birth, pronouns, and intake notes
  4. Click Create patient

The patient appears in the sidebar list. Click their name to open them.

Field reference

  • Full name — appears in the sidebar and patient header. Required.
  • Date of birth — used to display age on the detail page. Doesn't appear in generated notes.
  • Pronouns — drives pronoun usage in generated notes ("he reported," "they expressed"). Options: he/him, she/her, they/them, or unspecified. Unspecified means notes use third-person clinical voice ("client reported").
  • Intake notes — free-form scratch space for whatever you want at hand when you open the patient. Not sent to the AI when generating notes — that's the Case Overview, which builds itself over time.

How many patients can I add?

Unlimited. Confidant doesn't charge per patient or per session. Add as many as you need.

Can I import patients from another system?

Not yet via the UI. If you have a list to import, contact support — we can help with a one-off import for now, and bulk import is on the roadmap.

What if I add the same patient twice by accident?

It happens. Each duplicate has its own session history, so you can't merge them after the fact (yet — also on the roadmap). To clean up, archive the duplicate from its detail page and re-record future sessions under the original.
