A Confidant license is an annual subscription that includes:
Use of Confidant on your devices
Record sessions, transcribe locally, generate notes, manage patients. Everything in the app, with no per-session, per-patient, or per-note charges.
You can install Confidant on any device you own or control (a desktop, a laptop, etc.). One install at a time can be active per license — to move to another device, deactivate from Settings → Account → License on the old one and activate on the new one. Two devices being active at once is what isn't allowed; rotating between devices is fine.
All AI inference, on your device
Both the speech-to-text engine and the note-generation model run locally on your computer. There's no usage cost for transcription or note generation because we're not running any servers — your CPU/GPU is doing the work. Generate as many notes as you want; we don't see or charge for any of it.
Updates for the duration of your coverage
App updates and AI model updates are included for the active term of your subscription. We push improvements regularly — better note quality, new features, bug fixes — and you receive them automatically as long as your update coverage is current.
If your update coverage expires, you can keep using your current installed version of Confidant indefinitely. New updates just won't install. See Update coverage explained for details.

What it doesn't include
Concurrent use on multiple devices. Only one install can be active per license at a time. You can move it between your devices as needed (deactivate one, activate the other), but you can't run two simultaneously on the same license.
Cloud sync between devices. There is no cloud. Confidant data lives on the device where it was recorded. To work on the same patient from two devices, you'd need to share the data folder manually (not officially supported yet).
EHR integrations. Confidant doesn't currently push notes to specific EHRs. The workflow is copy-paste or PDF export. Direct EHR integrations are on the roadmap.
Voice cloning, model fine-tuning, or other custom AI work. What we ship are off-the-shelf transcription and note-generation models, tuned for clinical use via prompts.

Your subscription status
Visible at any time in Settings → Account → License. Shows whether you're active, when update coverage expires, and gives you a deactivation button.
