A patient's details live in Client settings, opened from the top right of their page. (If you've switched Confidant to say "patients", the button reads Patient settings. In a narrow window it shrinks to just its icon.)
Steps
Open the patient from the sidebar
Click Client settings at the top right of the page, next to Start session
Pick a tab: Profile, Notes or Recording
Make your changes. They save as you go.
Click Done to close
There's no Save button. Text fields save when you click or tab out of them; everything else saves the moment you click it.
Shortcut: if a patient has no pronouns or date of birth yet, the line under their name shows + Add pronouns (recommended) and + Add date of birth. Either link opens Client settings at the Profile tab.
What's in each tab
Profile
Name
Date of birth
Pronouns — recommended. They drive how the AI refers to the patient in notes ("he reported," "they expressed").
Client since — the date the patient was added. Shown for reference; it can't be changed.
Private notes — for you only. Never sent into notes.
Archive (or Unarchive) and Delete… — see Archiving a patient
Notes
Modality, Note format, Mental status exam and Note prompt. See Per-patient customization.
Recording
Usually — Ask each time, In person or Telehealth, and Auto-stop recording. See Per-patient customization.
Quick changes without opening Client settings
The strip under the patient's name shows Modality, Note format, Diagnoses and Auto-stop. Click any of them to change just that setting in a small pop-up. Each click saves; click away or press Esc to close it.
Treatment goals are edited right in the Case overview card. See Per-patient customization.
What you can't change
The patient ID — internal identifier, never exposed
Client since — the date the patient was added
Session list — sessions can't be reassigned to a different patient
If you need to fix something structural (wrong patient assigned to a session, e.g.), contact support.
Editing while a session is recording
You can. Client settings opens as a window over the page, so a recording in the session panel keeps going.
