System requirements
Confidant does all its work on your computer, with no data centers involved. That keeps your sessions private, and it means your computer needs enough power to run the AI.

Intel Macs aren't supported.
The built-in mic works well for in-person sessions. For telehealth, Confidant records the call's audio directly, so you don't need extra equipment. See Microphones and call audio.
Two note models
Confidant has two models for writing notes. During setup, it checks your computer and marks the one that fits with Recommended for this computer.

Pro | About 4.6 GB | More detailed notes. Needs 16 GB of memory. |
On a Mac, Pro is recommended when you have at least 16 GB of memory. Standard is better for 8 GB of memory.
On Windows, Pro is recommended only with a dedicated graphics card that has at least 5 GB of video memory, plus 16 GB of memory. PCs without one get Standard, which runs much faster there.
If you pick Pro on a computer with less memory, Confidant warns you that it may run out.
Switching models
Open Settings › On-device AI › Models and find Note generation.
Leave Choose automatically on and Confidant picks the best fit for your computer.
Or click Use Standard or Use Pro to choose yourself. The model in use is marked Active.
The change applies to the next note you generate. If the other model isn't downloaded yet, click Download now.
Confidant never switches models on its own. If you're using Pro on a Windows PC without a dedicated graphics card, you'll see a one-time suggestion to switch to Standard.
If your computer is taking too long to generate a note, switch to Standard.
iPhone, iPad and Android
Confidant doesn't run on phones or tablets yet. Running the AI on the device takes more memory than most phones have. We'll release a mobile version when it can write notes as well as the desktop app.
